What the Bible Teaches Us About Overcoming Rejection

Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of work on myself—specifically around exposure to growth, learning from rejection, (yes, even in dating…more to follow on this subject) and speaking up for what I want and believe. It’s hard work. It requires you to stop living in a way that impresses others and start living in a way that makes you genuinely proud of yourself. What has anchored me most through this process of stepping into my own voice is realizing that my identity is completely rooted in faith.

When you look at Scripture, the most impactful figures were intimately acquainted with rejection. Joseph was rejected by his brothers. David was dismissed by his family. Jesus was rejected by the very people He came to serve. But in every single story, human rejection was merely the backdrop for God’s redirection and refinement.

Learning from rejection means realizing that a “no” from the world does not diminish your worth in the eyes of God. When you are firmly planted like a strong tree, fierce winds might bend your branches, but they cannot uproot you. True ownership of your life means you stop asking the world for permission to grow and start trusting the path God has set right in front of you.
